The oldest part of Edinburgh Castle dates from the 12th century, the Great Hall was built in the early sixteenth century. The castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny.
The New British Traveller etc... was published in 1784, and was the work of George Augustus Walpoole, a topographical artist. It is divided into five sections, England, Wales, Scotland, British Isles and Ireland and was originally published in 60 parts. A later edition was published (1794) under the title -The new and complete English Traveler.
