Cornhill, seen here from the west with the old Royal Exchange is a one of London's oldest thoroughfares and here is a hive of activity. On the right at number 16 are the tailors, Allison, Knight and Co. and the offices of the Royal Exchange Life Assurance loom large. The streets are teeming with fashionably- dressed shoppers and bustling carriages and on the left a hat seller advertises his wares.
